About the SSMSA...The volunteers and businesses and families that make up the Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association (SSMSA) are proud of the part they play in keeping the Sault area snowmobile trail system among the best and most beautiful in the Midwest. A non-profit, 501.c.3 organization, SSMSA operates 4 trail groomers 7 days a week during the peak riding season. Skilled volunteer groomer drivers put in long and mostly late hours making sure visitor and resident snowmobilers alike have smooth trails to enjoy all winter long.

Responsible for grooming, brushing and signing 100 miles of snowmobile trails in the city of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area, SSMSA maintains trails that go through Brimley and Raco to the west, and Kinross to the south. Sault area trails connect riders to Newberry, Paradise, Strongs, Pickford, Cedarville, and St. Ignace---sledders can ride the entire Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and beyond, starting from an SSMSA groomed trail. In fact you can start in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and ride to Alaska on a snowmobile, as the MichCanSka riders proved in February of 2010!

SSMSA is a partner with, and member of, the Eastern Upper Peninsula Snowmobile Council and the Michigan Snowmobile Association, sharing their missions to develop a common appreciation, understanding, and knowledge of our favorite winter time family recreation.
The SSMSA Clubhouse and Groomer Barn is fully heated with a large shop for repair and housing of equipment. There's space enough to hold safety training classes for up to 50 youngsters. The meeting/kitchen area is where land owner dinners, board meetings and other club functions are held. The facility is barrier-free and has separate restrooms for men and women. |
